Funny thing happened when the supercharger was gotten, I took everything including the ECU because it was already tuned for the motor even though mine is a 2.5 Ltr. Everything was transplanted successfully with one minor hiccup. The car would not start, initially the starter was at fault so it was replaced (not an easy task). Tested it at the fuse/relay box and all good, however the key would not turn it. Then I remembered a flashing image on the gauge cluster. It turns out that the ECU/immobilizer did not match MY keys! Ok, I can get an ECU, dash, two keys, door lock, trunk lock and both storage compartment locks on feebay from the UK. Changed the ECU and ignition switch, still no go and there was no flashing on the dash but the light did not go out. What is supposed to happen is when the correct coded key is put in the ignition, the display will flash slowly and go out. The UK set was a mismatch as well since the light did not go out, no problem seller refunded monies.
My options were to tow the car back and forth to the dealer and pay alot, track down my original ECU or replace all locks, immobilizer, Gauge cluster and ECU with an known working set.
I had the vin from the donor car so I looked it up and found it on an insurance auction site! Reached out to them and was advised the insurance company (since they now own the car) would have to approve the exchange. So I reached out the person I got the Supercharger from and he was kind enough to give me the insurance contact information. A phone call yielded a voice mail box with vacation notification, Ugh so I decided to call back a day after she returned to work.
A week later I made the call and talked to the adjuster asking for permission to swap out ECU because I had the one that belongs to the car she has and I needed mine back. Was advised that she will look into it and talk to the previous owner and the auction site. Another week goes by and since I haven't heard anything back I called her again and was told that the previous owner did NOT return her call, however she did agree to call the auction site and give me permission to swap out the ECU and get mine back! What a sweetheart!
Next day I call the location and they verified approval and an appointment was made for the next day. Two hour drive to get there, an hour and a half waiting for and "escort" to change the part, about 15 minutes to swap them and another two hour drive home.
Of course it has been raining like crazy here since so I have not had a chance to put it back and try, fingers crossed that this will resolve the issue.
