Saturday we buttoned up the steering on my Sebring tribute car to ready it for transport to my house. I had purchased a gear reduction starter from this company http://www.britishstarters.com/Sunbeam.html because they had advertised that their unit would fit. Well it fit just fine until we tried to turn the car to the left, at which point the steering link rubbed up against the starter, preventing it from turning. The starter body is just too wide to clear the steering. My car is RHD, but we determined that a LHD car would make matters even worse.
So, just like other items supposedly built for our cars and across all Series, don't be surprised if it doesn't work. Guess I should have stuck to the correct stock starter!
Anybody need a brand new gear reduction starter for a Jag 4.2?
