I had the top down to keep from getting a ticket by an airplane cop.
I have to agree about the turbulence. At speeds above 60 or so, the Alpine is not much fun with the top down.
Here's one for you. My wife cannot tolerate a draft. The A/C or heater vents on here side of the car are always pointed away from her. But she can ride in an open Alpine all day long!

I didn't mind driving at 90 mph., through the California central valey, with the top dpwn.
Are you saying that having the top down somehow protects you, or is it just that you have a better chance of seeing the plane before it gets a reading on you speed?
My Alpine would puke its guts out if I ran it at 90 mph for a long drive.
The V6 can run at that speed for hours without any strain. The little four wasn't made to do that. Is one of the reasons I loved my V6 Alpines. I also got over 25 mpg. at that speed.
