Hey kids, it's time once again to see who can write the best photo caption!

Customary prize for the winner is a free t-shirt from our t-shirt shop, but this time we have a unique prize - a free copy of the best-selling book The Cobra in the Barn: Great Stories of Automotive Archaeology by Tom Cotter. Quayside Publishing Group announced the paperback version and kindly offered a free copy to our photo caption winner.

•"An enjoyable and addictive read that left me twitching with the need to head out into the sticks.” – Classic Car Weekly (UK),
•“Your heart will skip a beat… if you buy one car book to entertain yourself or a favored car collector, make it The Cobra in the Barn.” – Old Cars Weekly
•“Possibly the greatest fun you’ll ever have from a car book is by taking a gander at The Cobra in the Barn.” – Pittsburgh Post Gazette
•“…a welcome addition to my library.” – Toronto Star
•“Tom brings to the reader all the excitement, and sometimes the heartbreak, of the search and find. The book is extremely well-written in a most entertaining style and with a liberal number of photos to further make the reader enjoy the search and find.” – Victory Lane
•As a result of this book, Tom Cotter was the winner of 2006 International Automotive Media Award!!
_______________________________________

If you haven't read the book, it's full of true stories of fantastic barn finds. Cobras, Ferraris, and even a Sunbeam Alpine. There's an entire chapter devoted to our very own Steve Silverstein's discovery of the Sports Car Forum Alpine.

So, put on your creative caps and submit as many as you like. The SAOCA club officers will choose the best from the group and send you the book.

To sweeten the deal, I'll send a free t-shirt of your choice to the runner up.

See attached photo and start submitting those creative captions.

Mrs. Fenwick was not overly concerned when her husband drove by with a bevy of birds in his Alpine, at least she knew that he had plenty of help pushing it if the engine died.

Hoping to change his rather boring image, Mr. Lionel Barber-Ashford of Melba-on-Rye is shown here with the girls of the Coven School in Whipland going to the Black Sabbath concert held in London last week. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful as he fainted when one Mr. Osborne bit the head off a bat.

In the "Casting Counter Spells" competition at the recent interschool competition, Ms. Daphne Smythe-Smith of the Coven School in Whipland, is pictured above left attempting to correct a Lucas wiring issue. Although deemed creative by using Italian to cast the counterspell, she placed second.

While 16 other contestants were baffled by the problem, one was disqualified when it was discovered that she and her father had replaced the wiring on another test car with a Painless system the evening before. Name has been witheld.

Although Rootes decided not to market the Alpine as such, here we have a photo from an early Rootes brochure indicating the Alpine can be considered a five passenger plus driver automobile,
