Hello all I just wanted to say hello Im new to the forum, Ive have my alpine for about 6 years.

I bought it as a basket case in pieces and with lots of extra parts. It has been on blocks in my drive way since 2002. I have had it "on hold" since my fiance was diagnosed with cancer in late 2002. She passed after a long battle in 2004. It was her wish that i finish the monster and I simply hadnt fully recovered until recently.

I will not be "restoring" my car to its original perfection, and i know i will have a few people disagree with me but I am a hot rodder tied and true. I will not be making a tiger or alger out of it, But will be my hot rod alpine. I will post some for sale Items with pictures soon I have a few engine blocks rear ends front cross members and original wire wheels to name a few items. If any one is interested in what i may or may not have please contact me!

And in reverse of that I WILL be looking for some tiger pieces and sheet metal to repair some cancer spots on my alpine so whos got what?!

Welcome to the board.

You will find that there are a lot of Hot Rodders here. You will find those who think you shouldn't change anything on your Alpine, but they are few and harmless. When you say that you don't want to make a Tiger or Alger, are you saying that you still will swap something more powerful into your Alpine, or are you wanting to hop up the Alpine four cylinder? Either way, you will find a lot of guys that think like you do, and they are willing to help you with whatever you want to do.

Jose :)

Welcome
Sorry about your loss as we well know what you have felt loosing as we lost a son to cancer.
Don't know if I quailfy as a hot rodder but have done 2 V8 conversions. As my signature says I have a 351 in my Lister tiger clone.A much modified front end using aftermarket Mustang II compotents.
The 62 has a ford racing 302.Mustang II spindles and rack.Am in the process of building another front end as in the Lister for the 62
There is a guy named Mike (forgot his last name) that has made a super front end.Costs about 5 grand but I think he is close to not making anymore.
Keep us informed about your progress

Welcome

Sorry for you loss, maybe the restoration will help the grieving process. I like Chuck and yourself have a similar story, loss my husband 42 years old after 21 years of marriage to colon cancer in 2001. We were just getting started on the restoration of my Alpine, the restoration guys called about 2 months after his memorial service and told me they really wanted to finish the car and I told them I really wanted the car finished. In March of 2003 when the car was finally 80% restored they placed a plague on the handmade wood dash, "Built in Memory of our friend Bruce Baugess" Since that time I meet my gear head help me keep the Alpine running husband Jim and we celebrated our 3rd Anniversary in November, Jim lost his wife Carolyn March of 2003 to lung cancer.
My car has the original engine, but all kinds of modification to make it drivable and usable since it was originally left in a pasture for 20 years with the windscreen (windshield) busted out of it, a really bad rust bucket why it took 3 years of restoration work. So No it is not to late to restore the car and do whatever you need by putting in a different motor. The satisfaction of completing it for you lost loved one will be priceless.
