1965 late Series IV Oddities with Windshield Frame and Body

Here are a couple PIC's of my frame for my Late Series IV Alpine sitting on the body where I left the frame propped up to show the "single stud" of each side, unlike my Early Series SIV which has two studs on each side just like "all" of my SV Alpines.

The Body has two holes for each side underneath the top skin but they have never been cut through for a second stud.

I find this very odd, especially it being an unmolesded original one owner Alpine.

I've not seen a 5 stud version before. Our Series IV and both Series Vs all have 7 studs.

Here are a couple pictures of my late Series IV B94103819 it is Maroon Colour Code 70. It was ordered special by my friend while he was in the USAF and stationed in the UK.

I have taken several hundred pictures of this Alpine in close-up minute detail of every nut and screw in this Alpine for my planned restoration.

It was not until recently, while cleaning, repairing and prepping the whindshield frame, that I noticed the "odd" five bold arrangement.

I had picked at random one of my frames thinking they were all the same. Even my Early Series SIV B9400766 GT BW35 that I recently painted and fitted the windshield frame had seven (7) studs for mounting.

First thought is that my body man had filled in some of the mounting holes, but after examining underneath the skin from the A-post there was no filler to be seen.

The puzzle remains???

Here are the VIIN and BUILD Dates on the two Alpines. The Early SIV vs Late Series SIV.
B9400766 12/16 - 12/20 1963 270 Units B9400734 to B9401003
B94103819 5/31 - 6/4 1965 156 Units B94103756 to B94103911 Almost a year and a half between production dates?

Tim, That is what so has my curiosity up. The build dates are about a year and a half apart, yet my Early SIV has seven (7) studs.

Can't find a date in the Production Listing whre the change was made.

My series 3 alpine windshield frame has 7 studs but they are 1/4-28 threads, not 5/16-24 like most frames have.
I had to modify my adjusting nuts to be a 1/4-28 thread.

It seems for a short period of time they moved to 5 studs and did change the body at some point to accommodate it. But then went back to 7 studs, my guess being they found in normal use perhaps it was flimsy. Mine, B94103566, has a single stud sides and only one body hole for it and I've had the car since 74.

Goes along with the fact that it originally had a series V wiring harness but with a generator circuit. Figured that out rewiring when the harness didn't match the IV diagram.
