OK. I have bought 436 FBM. I have always wanted one; I love the shape, the history and the rarity. And now the dinky swweetly engineered cantilever boot. Genius.
I went to see it last weekend with a hangover but reigned back from buying it, figuring I needed a sharper brain. It is a big project, all in boxes and everything is rough as a bears arse. Common sense prevailed and I made an offer that was accepted
The headlining is in place and in one piece. The sunvisors like wise. All the body plates and numbers are there also and the paperwork is good. The overdrive is the early type with the external copper pipe and the engine cast date is good as are the side exit distrubutor cap and ancillaries that point to the right period engine.
No prop and worse, no petrol tank; thats going to be tricky. also no rear side glasses but I reckon I can replace those. 3 eared petrol cap is a bonus but I only have half the Harrington script for the boot. Maybe the other half is in a box. Doors and glass are there also as are the original carpets
I realy need to see another cantilever type. They appear not to have the cross bar behind the seats. The interior trim indicates that this is so, running from the door all the way to the boot in one piece. The croos bar is much further down the body at the top of the wee boot lid.

The back seat is a hinged 3 piece affair that folds flat (I'm told as per HLMs) Seat squabs as per photo above (HLM?)
Splined axles wire wheels and 3 ear knock offs are there.
I hope to pick it up in a week or two and do a full survey.
How many cantilever HA's out there? Any one know? There are only two on the register but there are probably a couple of others out there I imagine.
My biggest problem now is information. I think I'll have to go to the Harrington meet next year definately.
Many thanks to Jan who not only tipped me off but has been incredibly helpfull to me this past week with advice and photos. He really is keeping the Harrington alive. I hope I can be worthy
Lots of post to come
All the best
