Zenith WIP & WIA Carbs

Ian and I have done it before with overdrives and transmissions - we box up our stuff and send it in one big package over the pond to a certain UK rebuilder; helps to share the cost of the expensive shipping.

We can certainly do the same with Zeniths - I need to get mine rebuilt some day and back on the car, though my Weber is running so nice I'd hate to replace it. What has held me back is choosing the right rebuilder - there's a number of them in the UK, and none I've found here in the US with whom I'm comfortable.

Has anyone tried some of the rebuilders over in the UK?

Hi Scott,

I can recommend:-

www.gowerlee.dircon.co.uk/
They rebuilt mine very nicely and have a number of NEW Zenith WIAs and WIPS for sale. These are for Rapiers and other Rootes types but apart from possibly incorrect throtle linkages they should be fine but I'm no expert on choke dims and jetting. They also hold a huge amount of ex stock for every type of carb,

Also there are...

www.burlen.co.uk ( a very highly regarded carb uber specialist) although i have not used them.

Try also the Carb hospital - www.carburettorspecialists.com/
I bought a pair of NOS alpine 1600 twin WIPs, the last pair they had (sorry) but they have more non alpine 36 WIPs & WIAs

I hope this helps

Thanks for posting those Zenith supplier, repair people. I will file this info for future reference.
Can anyone please post a good detail close-up photo of the proper linkage configuration for the twin Zenith carbs . I have a 1962 Series II that is not quite right since I bought the car and now starting to rebuild it (project)

A pic of the correct setup would be great...I'd add an item to include the correct gromment for the linkage/accelator rod to the front carb.

Eddie Donovan good example

a couple of years ago, I first discovered the old forum and had just bought my Series II Alpine. The first person to show me an example of info / tech sharing & generosity was Eddie Donovan. I have a cd disk with a copy of The Alpine Manual complete, plus the series II Tuning Guide jpegs and it was mailed to me from Eddie Donovan of Carlsbad Spring Ontario.
Thanks Eddie, :) I owe you for that one.
