Valve Springs, how much is TOO much?

I finally changed the valve springs on the Weekend Racer Alpine.

I concluded I clearly had WAY less spring pressure than I needed.

But how much will the Alpine valve train take?

Who has "been there and Done that"? (knows the LIMIT)

The tuning guide says that the stock springs are more than sufficient for racing....have you got a valve spring pressure tester? My thinking is to use springs meeting new stock spec, and go lighter with retainers and valves (Titanium?) Then you have to consider opening rates; how hard is it to follow the cam profile in use? So, to answer your question; I wish I knew!

Sorry late to the thread .. I was way occupied the week of this ...

The stock springs are not good for racing unless you are staying under 6000 you will get valve float and spring binding with the stock double springs once you are beyond the stock rev ranges.

So if you are staying below 6000, if at factory rate they may be ok... That said before I rebuilt the engine in my road car.. I was getting float around 6000 on the original springs..

The race motor went to 7200 .. @spmdr I'll see if I can find the specs of what went in
