Paul,
Check the forecast.

we have been spoiled this fall - it has been unusually warm for longer than normal - 72 yesterday. It is about to end, though, with rain, snow or a rain/snow mix forecast for the weekend. Sunbeam driving is about to come to a close. Pete

Alpines came with 5.60 / 5.90 / 6.00 - 13" tires. The radial equivalent of a 6.00-13 is 155/80-13.

If you use the road speeds listed in the series V WSM, the factory tire size had a larger diameter than a 155/80R13.

3.89 rear at 1,000 rpms in top gear is listed as 17.82 mph. The math for that works out to a 23.30" diameter tire.
The 4.22 rear at 1,000 rpms in top gear is listed at 16.4 mph. That works out to a 23.26" diameter.

I suspect 16.4 mph has some rounding versus the 17.82 mph number, so using the 3.89 number should be more accurate.

Comparing some tire sizes:
155/80R13 - 22.76"
175/70R13 - 22.65"
175/75R13 - 23.33"
175/80R13 - 24.02"

The 155/80 tire is about 3% smaller than the tire used for the WSM numbers.
A 175/75R13 size is a match. Going down to a 175/70 is 3% less. Going up to a 175/80 profile is 3% more.

wsm 124 general data page 24 lists the rolling radius as:

5.60x13-----11.25 in.

5.90x13-----11.45 in.

6.00x13-----11.50 in.

I think rolling radius is smaller than one half of the diameter, but in a Hillman wsm I have, the same 6.00x13-----11.50 in. is listed but is noted as rolling radius at 30 mph.

your mileage will certainly vary - lol

Why are you are so worried about a 3% difference in diameter and so unconcerned about a 13% difference in width?

My post listed numbers and comparisons. It did not indicate any concern with diameters or widths.
