I just purchased 14" X 6" Panasports for my Series II and now need to select a good tire - good handling, no fender rubbing and good looks. Could use some help with brand and sizing.

Thanks,

Jack

Jack,

I run Flaken Azenis tyres.. semi slicks, they are 175x60x14

Pirelli make some 175x65x14's and then there are some bridgestone and good years i have seen in 185x60x14. my tiger runs 195x55x14's

Tire Choices for New Panasports on Series II Alpine

Has anyone checked out the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position ultra high performance all season tire? Second choice is probably Sumitomo HTR 200 either 185/65/14 or 195/60/14.

Regards ,

Jack

My Falken tires arrived today. Look real nice. I'll try to get them mounted early next week.

Jeb,

Some advice.. make sure you heat cycle the tyres properly (they are like track tyres) they are surprisingly good in the wet... and also.. spend some decent money on a PROPER front end alignment.

Alpine_64,

So heat cycle is when I drive figure 8's around a parking lot until the tires are hot then remove the tires and let them sit for 24 hrs?

Well.... that would be A way of doing it. There should be some info from Falken about heat cycling the tyres.. i wasnt going to take it seriously until a friend of mine that does quite a few trackdays and runs them told me to pay attention otherwise the tyres tend to harden up a little. Apparently if you do this it settles the rubber or some such.. who knows.. for driving on the street may not make a difference. But basically it involves taking the tyres for a few good runs and getting the heat up in them when they are new.

Paul,

The car did look good with the wires.. esp since i ran 155 series tyres so it looked very period correct.... BUT... man they were a pain to keep clean.. i used to break spokes all the time, they clunked and it was hard to find places to balance them.. not that you really could given the wear... so go spend cubic meters on new hubs and splines.. or go get some nice safe alloys... OK so i took the easy way out.. but i still like them :)
