Still looking for more Alpines for June16-19 Tigers United. As of this date, May 24th, CAT has 56 Tigers and only 3 Alpines signed up for the whole event. We are expecting anther 15 to 20 Tigers to show up on Sat. , which will make our goal of 75 Sunbeams. It would be great to see more Alpines. Remember, this is going to be the largest gathering of Sunbeams on the West Coast this year.
If you are only attending one day, Saturday is your best. Start your day at Long Beach City College Veterans Stadium parking lot, the site of the autocross. Go to registration, buy a $25 wristband, which allows you access to not only the autocross, but the Queen Mary as well. We have scheduled several guest speakers, including Don Sesler, the only person to win the SACCA National Championship in an Alpine, 1964 (in Steve Silverstein's #74 Alpine). If you would like to autocross on Saturday, you can pay $60 for 3 runs, which includes the wristband access to the Queen Mary. (I had early stated it was $60 plus $25. It's only $60.) To run the autocross, arrive on Saturday before 11 a.m., have your car teched. There will be lunchtime drivers' meeting and track walk. A Saturday only autocross group will run sometime after lunch. For more information, contact Steven Alcala (310) 322-6323. PS And yes, the 1962 Sebring Alpine--the only factory Sunbeam Alpine running in the country--will be in full action at the autocross. Please don't miss it.
