This video shows how we attach the various badges to our Alpines and how we ensure that they are correctly positioned..

If you have nice badges with broken pins, or if you just wish to attach the badges to your Alpine in a better way than the original one, this video on the Sunbeam Alpine Channel may interest you.

This is very good, Tim and I can definitely see the benefits of using badge tape. And, while your method would definitely be superior, did you ever consider a hybrid method of fitting the tape to the badges with the pins attached and then using the pins for positioning on the car? I have not tried this yet, but have thought about it for the next time I am fitting badges to a freshly painted car. You'd have to spend more time punching holes in the tape to make it fit just right on the badge, but it would seem more foolproof and less labor-intensive to me than positioning each piece with a ruler. And, while I am sure it wouldn't be as waterproof as welding up the original holes, I would think the tape would do a pretty good job of keeping moisture out.

Just a thought...

Jim,

We have previously put badges onto cars that have badge holes in them but we seal the holes with sealant then attach the badges (minus the pins) with the badge tape over the top of the holes. Ideally we want the holes welded (or even filled and painted) closed. We don't want to take any risk of water being able to get behind the badges and into the body shell. If you try to use the pins and badge tape you would definitely be running that risk.
