Steel Gauze Under PCV Valve

Hi Tiger owners,

It was brought to my attention that below the PCV valve on the right hand rocker cover, there is some steel wool/gauze. Should this be removed for cleaning periodically or is it maintenance free? My second question, is were you aware of this gauze material?

Thanks, Robin.

Hi,

I have found out some more information regarding the gauze material. This could actually be more of a tech tip also, but if the pcv valve is touching the gauze it will have a syphon effect and draws oil into the intake valve. On inspecting my Tiger's pcv valve I found it to be touching the gauze. My Tiger was blowing out a little bit of oil after idling in traffic, but was ok once underway.

Hope it helps,

Regards, Robin.
