A friend of mine is shopping for a pancake air compressor and Amazon and came across this in the Q&A section for one of them:
Q: How do you replenish the air when it runs out?
A: If you happen to find yourself navigating in vacuum of the ether, try to find a circumstellar habitable zone. Chances there would be better that you might a planet with sustainable levels of nitrogen, oxygen, water molecules, argon atoms, etc. near the surface... at the upper levels of atmosphere you'll need hydrogen and helium at predominate levels. Then the short answer would be photosynthesis .... If your pressure apparatus is already on Earth, the air it uses is simply sucked right out of the immediate area that surrounds it... just like you do when you breath. Good luck!
A: Once the air runs out you must replace the compressor. Just use the "reorder" option.
A: They sell refill canisters. Just attach it to the hose, suspend it above compressor like an IV bag, then flip the compressor upside down. Usually takes about 4-6 hrs depending on altitude.
A: You have to manually pressurize the vessel with the provided air straw. I started last week and am almost halfway there.
A: If the air all runs out, just attach the hose to the other fitting and blow into it until it's full.
A: Just take it to any tire shop
