Alpine cooling -saga continues
Well, I had a small diversion with my cooling investigation as I found out my front brakes were in poor shape. Rebuilt calipers now installed (thanks HANK).
And I did my first long test drive of about 40 miles to see the behavior of the engine temperature. Of course it turned out to be a "cold" Florida day of about 60 F. Temp never rose about 75 C, except in slow stop and go traffic.
So I am at the point, I believe the indicating system, and water pump. All hoses, & thermostat new from SS as is temp sensor and Alu-mini-UM radiator.
So I am going to look into the electric fan next. It must be the culprit too little airflow at slow speeds. I will update this thread as this investigation continues.
Still have no reservoir for coolant (just has a tube that dumps to ground), so I think this also needs attention.
FYI-The heater core completely isolated and inop. Supply and return hoses cut, no lines to control valve, and and heater core is bypassed completely. Thanks again for your help and suggestions. A photo attached below.
Lastly I have no fan shroud. There's been some discussion this could be causing the air to centrifuge outward and adversely affect the cooling at during
stop/go i.e. slow traffic.
