Were Series II Alpines ever offered as a GT model, ie hardtop only, no soft top? Thanks for your expertise.

I believe this started with the Series 3. Continued on to SIV & V Alpines, but not many on these shores.

I have a SIV GT BW35 early serial last four 0766 that had all of the GT trim and other options with out the soft top.

I have a SIV GT BW35 early serial last four 0766 that had all of the GT trim and other options with out the soft top.
Dan no GT had a soft top from factory. They have the rear seat instead.

Also..
pleated doors with door top rolls
Deeper 1/4 light to match doortop roll.
Interior light above mirror operated by special plunger screws on the door hinge screw
Full carpets
On S3 and SIvGT larger air filter and a under bonnet padding.
Wooden wheel and dash.
On S3 a detuned engine as they had the cast manifold instead of headers.

I either mis typed or I have been misunderstood in POST 4. Here is what I wrote: "I have a SIV GT BW35 early serial last four 0766 that had all of the GT trim and other options with out the soft top."
Meaning my Early Series IV is a Factory GT with all of the options (it did not and still does not have a Soft Top, it does have the rear sear area) including all of the GT trim.

Michael, If you remember, I purchased a door switch for the interior light from you many years ago because an original had been lost.

Below are a few PIC's that may be of interest

Michael, I knew you would bring clarity to the question. Well done. Dan, what a unicorn GT you have. Do we have the number of GTs made for each model?
I purchased my Series III GT from the original owner. And other than the new paint work I did it sports all original components except the carb system. Had a single downdraft solex carb with single batwing air intake. It runs significantly better with my replacement downdraft Weber configuration.

Dan to clarify you don't have all the GT options... They are all the standard GT parts ...
I actually don't remember seeing the GT switches...but doesnt mean I haven't forgotten.. I'm getting older too

My Series IV Gran Turismo GT BW35 Colour Code 39 had/has these following: Padded rear seat; full length pleated door panels; padded arm rail at the top; Padded top rail Covers around the rear passenger area; Full carpeting; Adjustable seats (Now the Miata Style); wood steering wheel which I am restoring; burled walnut wood veneered dash that was badly in need of restoration; a hard top that was also in need of restoration and in my opinion the item that saved the frame from being destroyed by the metal worms; Sound deadening under the hood; Interior light; Door switches for interior light; Wire Wheels (Converted to 4 bolt Mags); Sunvisors; Heater (Now single unit Heat and A/C); Electric Power Steering (EPS); Rear Disc Brakes.

With the Original 4 cyl (a factory replacement engine removed and saved, it now has the FORD V6 and an overdrive transmission (A4LD). The BW35 was gone when I came into possession of this Alpine.

A rather badly rusted vehicle that almost went to the Salvage Yard, being saved because it being a Saturday and they were closed. Stored for more than twenty years, you should see it now. Still working on it. All new beautiful RED Paint; New Chrome such as bumpers, door handles, Trunk hinges, Gas Cap, etc., everywhere; Fully replaced/repaired all of the rusty metal; Prepped with POR15, Dynamat & Lizard Skin for a full sound/heat treatment which makes for a nice ride. I even have a new windshield saved. As many of you know the SV have floor vents that is/was not available for the early Series, well I have also modified the RED GT with vents salvaged from a salvaged SV.

Hope this is an encouragement to anyone that has a rare Rootes vehicle that appears to be too rusty to salvage. Keep'em-on-the-ROAD,

DanR
