S5 Vapor locking?

Is there a common problem with vapor locking on Alpines? My Series 5 will run great for about 1/2 hour or 20-25 miles and then starts chugging. when I open the gas cap I can hear air either coming out or sucking in (not sure). I've checked the vent in the cap and all seems ok, I have a replacement that will get put on too. My car still has the original fuel pump and all we can get here is gasohol fuel too. In my days of vintage SAABs it was common knowlage to install an electric fuel pump to cure hard starting caused by vapor lock.

Thanks,
Marty

Original/unmodified gas tanks? Mmmm...
Use Google site search to search this site for fuel tank sludge.
There will be some interim solutions proposed that can save the
balance of the driving season for you.

Of course, it could be something else, but this is a common cause.
