Ranger vs Mustang ll Crank Pulley

How do the early vs late crank pulleys differ? Are they different diameters? Is the distance that they protrude from the timing cover different? Does one utilize a harmonic damper and the other the one solid piece construction?

I was planning on just having a machine shop cut my Ranger double groove crank pulley down to one groove but I'm wondering if an earlier Mutt 2 crank pulley has a smaller diameter and/or protrudes from the timing cover less making it better for clearing the crossmember.

As I remember my Capri pulley was slightly smaller in diameter than the Ranger one. I had the Ranger one cut down because the Capri one was cracked.

I just had the second groove removed. The consensus at the V6 conclave was that the slightly larger diameter would not be problematic.

Hi Mike,

You won't need to massage anything. It will be close, but you will be able to get a fan belt past the tight spot, which is all the clearance you'll need. it looks like it won't fit, but trust me, it will clear.
