Nothing magic that I know of. Drain oil, pull filter, put new filter on but it speeds up oil recirculation to partially fill the filter before putting it back on. Don't completely fill it or you will dump oil all over the place putting it back on.

You might also spin the engine for two or three 15-second bursts (with 15 seconds between each spin) with the HT lead removed, to get the oil circulating and air out of the system, before running for the first time after a change. Don't run the 30 or 45 seconds continuously or you can overheat the starter motor and harm the battery.

Of course, keep an eagle eye on the OP gauge when you start up. If you don't get a good pressure within 10 seconds max something's wrong. Switch off.

In an article some time ago, by Chris Drayton I think, he said that for the series V that you don't want to drain the sump hot and you don't want to remove the filter with the sump empty or you will run the risk of draining the pump and frying the bearings. So I guess the drill would be to drain and fill the sump cold then replace the filter. Has anyone else heard of this?
