Looking for recommendations on hood pins [preferably locking] that would work on an S1 in lieu of the standard bonnet latching system.

If you want the race look standard race pins work fine.... If you want something less obtrusive dezus fasteners would work.. Either way with pins you are walking to both sides of the car to open the bonnet....

I never could figure out why nobody ever made a locking (keyed) Dzus push-and-turn latch. Seems an easy thing to design and would be useful for both aircraft and cars.

Great! If not too much trouble, can you send a few more photos [channel, underside]. Thanks.

The brackets are made from a piece of 1" square tube with one side removed making a channel they are tack welded in the channel. IMG_20210123_161945144_BURST001.jpg

Lastly I think, which size did you use?

1/2" length to suit the thickness of the hood bracket etc, there are also different springs heights that allow adjustment of the grip to suit.

And as far as springs go you can put pop rivet washers under the spring to change the grip a little trick,if you don't have an assortment of springs.
