Help Identify this part

I just bought a Series 3 over the weekend. As I was going through the trunk I found this vinyl piece that I had nver seen before on a Sunbeam. Does anyone have a clue what this is? It has velcro connections to make the circles hold together. It's probably a bra for a motorcycle or something non-sunbeam related.

I also got a laugh at myself when I looked at the speedometer and saw it went to 200 and thought this was one special fast Alpine. Then realized this speedometer was a Km/h one not a MPH one.

Cheers,

That's funny! I have enough trouble getting my Alpine to go 200 miles much less do it in an hour!

A knee buckling pad! Any other suggestions?

It appears to be a fairing skirt for a Windjammer or Luftmeister from the mid 70's. It attached to the forks above the lower triple clamp and (somewhat) prevented rain to come up thru the lower part of the fairing into the rider's face.

OK... I'm a little slow. I recognise it because I used to pack them and ship them to BMW motorcycle dealers back in the bad ole days..... But this is more fun.

May I suggest that the next contest we run would be either supplying another caption for another photo from the Rootes archives or a "What's This Item?" discription...
