Headers for Series 2

Went through the engine of my HLM, fixing leaks and new head gasket. Then realized the main leak was coming from the front of the tranny with OD. Pulled the engine/tranny, and will replace seals/gaskets/synchros on the transmission. In pulling the engine, saw that the exhaust collector was shot, but able to order through SS. The headers have at least one pinhole, and are welded to the collector. These headers don't seem to be available stateside, have not exhausted overseas options yet. Obviously have to remove the welded on collector carefully. Any other options for the headers? Would ceramic coating be an option to extend their life? If so, any recommendations? Thanks, David

If you have the original HLM headers and they are decent it would be nice to save them

you can blast the headers clean, weld and grind the pin holes down (careful not to blow throught the headers of the metal has thinned out) then have them ceramic coated inside and out it will extend the life of them ( and help the motor give a little more power)

Iirc rick used to sell Falcon stainless headers from the UK which were a copy of the HLM headers.

I think jerome of alpine innovations in the UK still offers them

Thanks for the reply. Rick is out of the stainless headers, and is unsure when he may get any more. Not sure if the pinhole could be rewelded, and there is generally thinning of the material throughout. Have a few emails out to the UK suppliers, even if they have them, not sure they will ship given the increased costs/hassles of shipping. Will check Alpine Innovations web site. David
