Can someone please provide some info on how this seal is supposed to fit? It obviously sits in the track on the hardtop but is it mostly hidden when the clips pull the top shut or does it protrude over the edge of the hardtop?

It tucks into the c shaped channel on the front of the hardtop and wraps around the leading edge. I assume you're talking about the later hardtop, which is what this description is. The earlier ones, I don't know if they're that same.

Mike, I should have specified that I was talking about a S II, early top. However the way the seal is made makes me think it is wrapped over the leading edge.
Thanks for the info. though. Someone out there knows ...
