Best way to remove timing chain cover? An easy way to peek at the timing chain w/o removing cover?

Thanks once again

chain

There are no options. The harmonic balancer and cover have to be removed to see the chain and gears.

Timing chain condition

Well, you can measure the backlash without disassembly...remove distributor cap, turn engine forward with wrench, stop and mark crank pulley and cover with paint marker or whatever. Then watch the distributor rotor carefully for movement while turning engine BACKWARDS with wrench. Your paint marks can show how many degrees of slop you have, and you can guess how bad your chain is......Chrysler used to say 12 degrees was OK on a V-8, if i recall.
