Chassis # Letter Suffixes

Does anyone know what the letter "S" stands for in the suffix "LSX"? This is what is stamped onto the ID plate of my car. The engine block has the suffix "LRX" although the VIN numbers are the same on both indicating that I have the original engine. Any help in figuring out this discrepancy is appreciated. Thanks. I've never run across one with an S in that position. If the block says LRX and the rest is the same I'd almost say someone made a stamping error on the tag.

Imps have the LSX designation. The S stands for saloon which is a mistake and some Alpines were improperly stamped this way.

Hey 63Beamer! Where in Orange County are you located? I'm not too far away from you in Dutchess! I've been looking for a local "Beamer" for quite some time. Let me know & maybe we could get together!
Cheers!
Steve
