I just went back thru the first 30 pages of "General Chit-Chat" and found 5 different threads advising buyer or user awareness on one thing or another.

Only ONE had the thread locked.

Is MajicJack such a valuable property that someone feels the need to protect their interests?

I think ANY subject that isn't violating the politics, religion or offensive language limits should be allowed. Censorship is a central tenet to allowing those who want to gain or keep power. Free thought or choice is baddddd for us Sheepeople.

I fully expect this thread to be the 2nd one locked.

The reason behind the editing and subsequent locking of the thread wasn't because of the Product review or censorship, it is because the thread had deteriorated into immature name calling by two long time Forum users that have an equally long term of sniping at each other.
Todd clearly stated this as the reasoning for deleting the posts.

That thread was closed and several posts deleted because it had degenerated to confrontation and name calling, which had nothing to do with MagicJack.

This forum is about Sunbeams. When joining everyone agrees to the rules which clearly state the club has the right to moderate, delete or otherwise deal with posts as they see fit. If people do not agree with this "censorship" they are free to run for SAOCA office every 2 years or better yet start their own forum.

The level of confrontational threads and non-Sunbeam related garbage seems to have escalated lately. We strive to be an enjoyable and welcoming club, with a forum that provides a wealth of knowledge and resources to the Sunbeam community. We are not here to provide a forum for social debates, in whatever form. That said, there will be less tolerance for this type of stuff going forward.

PS. Rich, I think only moderators see those deleted thread/post indications.

Moderators and admins can see the deleted posts and the reasons for deletion if entered. Most users do not see that information. Therefore, I added an explanation to the MagicJack thread because it was confusing as to why the thread was closed.

Thank you for the clarification on closing the thread. I don't have a problem with the mods doing what they need to do on a thread that has gone off on a tangent. I just bristled at what I thought was suppression of information, and the sub-heading of the section it was posted in was NON Alpine Related Topics.
