Buick v6 turbo in a 63 alpine

Q

I was just given a 63 that had a datsun engine in it. It was a hack job. I have a spare gnx engine and tranny. Has anyone done a similar conversion?

Probably not. The Buick engine is too wide to fit the Alpine engine bay as are all 90 degree engines save the small block Ford. The Alpine would have to be cut up pretty badly.

Awhile back there was an Alpine with a V6 turbo Buick showing up.Forgot where but I'm sure some have seen it.

To do that conversion correctly, you would need to front half the car. That means making a tubular frame and weld it to the firewall of the Alpine. The front clip would have to be attached to the fabricated frame. I believe the fancy frame work we saw posted on this board, not too long ago, is from the V6 Buick that Chuck is reffereing to.

It can be done, but not cheaply, nor easily. The car would be a rocket in a straight line; but would it cut a corner? The kind of power the Buick is capable of, would make it a hand full in a straight line too, because of the short wheel base.

Jose:)
