I use the smaller Hitachi alternator from Advance Auto Parts. Its small and fits the Alpine well. This alternator was used on 1973 Datsun truck. The part number is 14231 and is a Lifetime warranty. I did have to drill out the holes to 3/8" to work with Joses bracket and I made a spacer to fit the bolt. The spacers are used to align the altnator pulley for the best alignment of the WP pulley and alternator pulley.

Yeah the hitachi is a good choice IMO.

I am using the duraspark distributor triggering and a Crane HI6.

One thing that came up that I had forgot about is for some reason I do not recall what I had to install a diode on the charging system because once the car started it would not shut off.

Hi Jim
I remember you doing the diode bit.Wasn't the problem that you were some how energizing the coil through the charging system. On early cars you could hot wire the coil and push it to start and they would run without the ignition being on.Of course that meant it was easy to steal them.
Now how do I know that.OOPS .
