Hello All,

I just recently purchased a '67 series V w the 1725 cc motor. I was going to do an oil change and realized I wasn't sure what grade/viscosity of oil I should use. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mike

In an effort to stop a lengthy discussion before it starts again, some folks use SAE30 (because that's what the engineers said to use 50 years ago) and some folks use Shell Rotella T 15W40 (because it's closer to the zinc-rich, flat-tappet-friendly oil the engineers said to use 50 years ago). Others use other stuff with varying levels of anecdotal success.

This topic has been discussed many times. I encourage you to put this into a google search:

site:sunbeamalpine.org engine oil

You'll find many discussions with many opinions that boil down to what I typed above. Also, click above under "tech data" then "original tech manuals." You'll find recommended lubricants and plenty of other helpful info.

Hope it helps. Congrats on your new purchase.
