1592 High Capacity Oil Pan

I'm a big believer in more oil capacity in wet sump

engines for High RPM use.

I have charged Steve Alcala with the task

of making a custom oil pan.

The outside is done.

The inside is a work in process,

multiple Tricks and TOP secret mods planned!

I had thought about having a sump made with the SBF style winged sides to keep clearance and then have a windage trap door tray at the bottom.

But I need an accurate measurement of the sump to block face and then some clear dims under the car for width.

I have a guy who can fab in alloy and CNC billet mounting face to stiffen the bottom of the block.

MK, Alcala has made several 1725 over sized oil pans.

Those pans had "wings"

I decided to keep this version a bit simpler.

And spend more time working on the Inside.

The pan is not significantly Deeper than a stock pan.

I have not checked the capacity yet.

We have been running the Vintage Race Tigers

with a LOT of hours on the engines running up

to 7400 RPM with Great reliability.

( And the 7400 RPM limit is ALL about valve train reliability,

and the limits of Vintage valve train parts we can use. )

So I think I have a little bit of a handle on what is required

from an oiling system.

AND, SBF engines have a fairly demanding oil system

because of the narrower rod bearings.

Proportionally, Alpine rod bearings are much bigger (wider)

than SBF rods.

I don't expect any problems with the rods or rod bearings.

BUT, ALL is yet to be seen, what the problem areas of the

Modified Alpine "1592" ( 1744cc Real numbers ) are.
