    Fuel pump cam follower damaged

I'm swapping the cam in my SIV and when I removed the current cam (1.5 years old) there are three deep scars on the fuel pump cam. The fuel pump is a glass bowel type that has worked great. What is going on? And how do I prevent this on the new cam? Thanks!

The Compression is 115. The Vissard Mods to the head did lower the compression. I tested it with the spark plugs in the cylinders not being tested. I have no idea what the overlap is like on this cam. Everything inside this engine is new and it only has about 150 miles on it.
