V6 tune up tips

Looks like somebody hacked out the top of the radiator bulkhead (aka, core support) and the "inner hood panel" to make swapping the engine easier.

Doesn't strike me as a good idea with a unibody chassis, but YMMV.

A Monte Carlo Bar would fix any concerts about flex on the frontend. You might be able retro fit one from an early Mustang or just custom fabricate one from scratch. Might be a project for Dan to add to his custom parts inventory?

It’s taken longer than I’ve wanted to get to this point but have the braking, throttle, battery box in trunk, rust repaired all completed.

New plugs, points, timed with both vacuum lines plugged. It starts first click of the key but sputters on acceleration as well as higher rpm. Hard for me to discern if it is running on 5, timing is off or my carb that sat for 15 years is just bad. Right now plugs are pulled and I’m going to do a compression check. The carb and disti look stock to the car Weber 32/36 with water temp choke on the carb and two vacuum hoses running to the disti. Any advice?

A while back someone on here switched out the water choke for electric off a BMW. Check you accelerator pump, fuel pump. distributor advance. I'd put a bar in front of the radiator to tie both sides together.

It has a new line and fuel pump from the tank. I've verified the disti is advancing with the light. The plan is to get it running good, then pull the motor to reseal and clean it up, run new exhaust and reinforce the front. I would have guessed accelerator pump, but it runs bad not just on acceleration, but at >2500 rpm as well. It idles fine and below 2000 rpm, does fine as well.

May have to tear it apart, clean and put a rebuild kit in. Maybe float setting, needle and seat? Those carbs like less fuel pressure compared to Holley. 3-4psi compared to 5-6 for Holley.
