The problem with rootes brochures in period is they tended to colour over photos.. you will notice that in the brochure there is no plug on the RHS at all.. and we know that to be wrong.

Michael, the picture does have a plug on the right hand side it just does not show up on the low res picture. But I think you are right in that the pics were touched up. Anyway, I hope they did have black plugs because that is what is on my car !

i appreciate what john is doing with this car. it is an original car and is a cut above most. it probably is the nicest in the U.K. are there no other cars as original as it ?

Yeah, I just checked my brochures for the SV, and it shows the exact same red-trunk photo, but with the starting handle *and* the rubber plugs airbrushed out entirely. None of my road test articles have a picture of the trunk, either.
