I think a single carb setup will be easier to tune.

Dont bet on it, particularly with the fact that 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 should not be paired together as they are only 90 degrees out of phase with each others induction strokes.

What you need is one of these (don't worry that they talk about motorcycles). Go to the link: http://www.carbtune.com/ . I bought myself one of these when I ran my twin carby setup. They are very easy to use and balance the carbs prefectly. Hope this helps.
