trim / headliner late series hardtop

Need some help settling a friendly debate: What type of trim is used to finish off the leading edge of the headliner of a late series hardtop? I'm stating it should be a length of that u channel cotton weave ( to match the u channel with rubber bead used along the tops of the window openings) but others are saying u channel with fuzzy furflex (as found on the early series hardtops).

Which is it?

If by the leading edge you mean across the front of the headlining, I think you'll find there never was any trim, finishing strip. I've a number of hardtops, a III a IVa, an early and late V all with original headlinings and rubber and none of them show any evidence of clips or strip having been fitted across the front.

Pete, thanks for replying. That is the area to which I'm referring. Guess that settles the debate then - no trim whatsoever. Interesting.

headliner

Hi,
I have posted in a new thread asking fro help/pics on headliner installation. If you can help that'd be great.

wrt your question, on my tin top I have a metal strip that I think gets riveted over the headliner at the front edge. Mine is disassembled but can send pics if you need.

And for those who might be wondering the metal strip at the front of the headliner goes underneath with the fabric wrapped around the front edge.
