The Nissonger guy will fix your tach, but it will be stock. Tom H. does more than that - he upgrades the tach with newer technology to eliminate many of the design issues with the original Smiths instrument.

Was puzzled by the response to my post above, so checked with Mike Mizrahi at Britishspeedo.com.
He also puts in a circuit board, so the tach is updated for both points and electronic ignition like Pertronix. I confused Tom Hayden (Tom H) with Tom Hall in CA, who also updates Sunbeam tachometers, as well as a myriad of other services.
Let's hope we continue to have access to such services. David
