Rear View Mirror

I have a roll/show bar on my car. It obstructs the windshield mounted mirror's view. I'm in the process of seeing if I can adapt a vertically adjustable mirror from a Porsche 356 or MG. Looks like I can make a rod with a plate to bolt into the windscreen and then anchor it to the center windshield stud. Anyone else tried this or see any issues before I start hacking and slashing?

why don't you mount a mirror on the glass.this is a simple procedure and there is an ample supply of them.i mounted a late model chevy mirror with map lights in my 69 GT.they can be set anywhere you want. plus no vibration.you can actually use it and see what's behind you.

There are 2 reasons why this won't work:

1-It makes sense
2-It's not a complicated enough solution to an easy issue

Thanks 65beam...

Hi nick,

When you go to stick the mirror onto your windshield, take it to a professional automotive glass shop to have it done. I have never had much luck with the do it yourself kits that I have tried to stick my mirrors on with. The pros seem to have a much better glue, or something, because when they do it, it sticks like from the factory.

Jose :)

On the subject of mirrors. has anyone tried using a mirror like the ones on a Miata or Corvette C5. Are they too modern for the Sunbeam?

I'm thinking the chage could be interesting.
