Engine swaps are one of Rocco's specialties (as evidenced by his S2000-powered SV and his Pinto-powered SII race car) and he worked on this car for a very long time, in part because the owner kept giving him other project cars to build for him. One of those cars was a 1977 911 Targa that Rocco put a later air-cooled Porsche engine in. The owner has had so much fun with the Targa that he decided didn't need the orange car. In fact, he has made a conscious decision not to ever drive that car, probably because he fears it will change his mind and he is trying to downsize his collection. I have not driven it - too scared - but have ridden in it and it is very, very quick.
As a long time Porsche fan and a fan of this particular build, it has been fun watching the auction and will be interesting to see where it ends up tomorrow evening.
