Hitachi identification

My SV (of 4 months) has a Hitachi alternator. I found the dimensions of the14231, but mine is a bit bigger. Is it a 14185? There are no tags or stampings on it. It needs replaced, but the 14231 series won't fit my bracket.

When you say it wont fit your bracket, what doesn't fit? When I installed my Hitachi I had to make some modifications to my bracket.

If the dimensions I found are correct, a 14231 won't slip over my bracket. Mine measures 3 1\8 "
