Good News! I40 is open at NC-TN border.

I just heard last night that NC DOT opened I40 at the site of the rock slide that totally closed the highway for months. This occurred just east of the TN/NC border. For those coming from the west this will shave an hour off your trip from the detour utilizing I81 to I26.

Eastbound I40 has two lanes open, westbound has only one lane open. That's OK since no one is in a hurry to go home anyway.
