O K Super rookie, novice, newbie, etc.. question. Other than the head gasket(dry) where else do you use / not use gasket sealer ?
Inlet/exhaust manifolds ? I'm sure all the thin "paper" gaskets get something what do 4 out of 5 Alpine doctors recommend ? I looked around the W S M (maybe not the right place) and only found.. fit head gasket dry, carb gaskets, thermo cover, thermo housing, water pump, Exhaust manifold to down pipe ?

Thanks, Tom j

The head gasket, I only use a small amount oil engine oil, some say nothing just set and tighten as per instructions. which is real good idea.
On to your other gaskets, I use a red silicone sealer .. very thin, I will put it on my finger and spread very thin.
On the intake and exaust, same stuff, but just a little more. After setting those I snug them up NOT torqued ,, let sit for about 8-12 hours, then torque to proper fit.
Try not to have so much, as to juice allover.. Looks bad and if this stuff gets in certain areas may have problems,, On the side pan seal area, snug down, I let it ozz out just a bit and then remove the cover, wipe off the stuff on the out side and if it has leached into the lifter area wipe it off..Then reseat with a gasket . If you don't have the proper gaskets you can make them out of paper shopping bags..and set the bolts.
IF you have chrome parts""""''''' NOte you best sand or grind the chrome from the sealed area. I call it a chrome leak, Chrome will not allow the sealer to attach properly..
Well good luck and with any you will not have more than a couple of small spots to watch..
I have two smaller than a dime spots that I swear if they ever stop ,,I am out of oil..
