Brushing or a light grinding sound?
I'd it coming from the box or the bell housing area?
Is the sound always or just at crusing speed?

Maybe put the car securely on jack stands and blocks and let the cat run the car in 4th and see if you can locate the origin

Thanks so much the tips - now that i think about it, it does sound a bit like a light grinding sound. I will follow your advice - very helpful - thanks Apine_64!
