2.8L V6 Torque Settings

I know there's usually an 'official' torque specification for most of the bolts on the engine and in some cases the sequence that you tighten the bolts is important too.

As per Jose I'm using Fel-Pro gaskets, without sealer, and I want to make sure they're all evenly seated and tightened to spec.

Other than the few listed in the Tech Data section, has anyone found an online reference for torquing things like the timing cover, water pump housing, oil pump, oil pan and intake manifold?

Mike. I'm not aware of an on-line guide. I would suggest you look on eBay for an old copy of the Haynes Automotive Repair Manual for the 1974-1978 Mustang II.( 36049 (231)) I think I paid $4.95. It has a wealth of info and the torque settings AND sequences you refer to.

Just for grins( all in ft lbs) - Timing cover - 12 to 15 , water pump - 6 to 9, oil pump - 10 - 12, oil pan - not listed, but rocker covers are 2 to 5 ( I would think they might be same???) intake manifold - 15 to 18.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,

I've got a Haynes Mustang II manual. Give me a little bit and I'll see what they list.
