Looks cute but I'm not sure I'd want to trust my life to a VW motor.

Subaru's are becoming quite popular for this application.
Weighs about the same and has more than double the reliable HP.

I am not sure it would fit, but yes they are becoming. I flew behind one once in a Dragon Fly, it seemed to have enough gease to make the do-nuts. In fact the owner gave me a demo that scared me, he had us low over the pucker bushes and went from idle to full throttle by slaming the throttle forward. I thought it was going to quit but it did not.

The VW if done correctly can be very reliable as proven by Mira Slovack with his VW powered RF4-D flight over the Atlantic. His airplane hangs in the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

The VW is actually a certified engine in the USA and other countries if built by Limbach.
