Front g-box seal

Just watched the gear box strip-down video on u-tube as I want to change the front cover seal. Seems the box has to be taken apart before the front cover can come off. ( also noted in the workshop manual).
Is it possible to replace the seal without removing the front cover. Can it be pried out with a screwdriver and then new one fitted? The video shows it being pushed back through the front cover, once the cover and gears are disassembled.

The tranny input shaft assembly cannot be removed without some disassembly inside.
The input shaft seal can be replaced in like an hour. You drill a small hole in the seal and screw in a sheet metal screw...then pull hard on the screw and it should pop out. Then replace it with some hardening gasket sealer (don't use silicone) and tap the new seal in.

As said above... but when replacing, be sure not to push the seal in too far. It will go in another 1/4". Keep flush.
