Many years ago I put a 1940 Ford coupe battery in the trunk due to way to big of a motor for the space. Due to distance and going under the car but above the scrub-line, I put the heavy cable in electrical conduit held with ADEL clamps. Hot exhaust, road debris, and chafing were no longer a worry.
