If they did not have a listing for Alpine just order one for a 4.2 liter Jag. works great and has the right gear travel ( no gear grind):eek:

Hey Allan, Mostly just havin' a little fun. And I see now that your Alpine has not used a ballast resistor, and I guess the starter guys were saying , if you didn't use one before then you wouldn't need one now. The point is that what they should have said is that the starter has no influence on the ballast resistor issue, and that the need for a ballast depends on the coil. The possible requirement for a ballast resistor all depends on your coil and ignition system. The concept of bypassing the ballast while starting IS an issue associated with the starter and the solenoid, but not the basic need for a ballast.
