What is a good price on an Alpine

Found a classified in my area for a 67 Series V, with hardtop, wire wheels, rebuilt engine, dual Strombergs, says older restoration. Having bought my 66 as a basket case for $500.00, I'm not sure how to value an Alpine. Could someone give me some insight as to what a good price on one would be. I haven't seen the car yet, just called and the seller is out of town.

Thanks

Mike, the value is in the eye of the beholder. The way I see it, a rust free shell can be priceless. To replace a full set of floor pans will prolly set a guy back $1,500 (just a SWAG) if he spends a few months doing it himself. Things snowball from there. But at the same time, you will find nice rustfree drivers struggling to get 5 grand while people drop $1,000 or more in a rust bucket.

Go figure, I give up!

Thanks Bill,

That's one good thing about the "basket case" I bought. The guy I bought it from had new floor pans put in and all the body work done. It's primed and a rolling chassis. He moved and was trying to sell the house. The Alpine was in the garage and a parts car was under cover in the driveway. He needed to get rid of them both. Then, last week I saw the ad for another one close by. I've got a handle on Mustangs and MGB's, but not up on trend for the Alpines.

Thanks again.
