You can ID a correct period and correct batch for a tiger.. but not really the actual engine. The only ID link to the VIN is the sticker on the rocker cover.. so if they have changed motors for a same bacth 260 and swapped the rocker cover.. you wouldnt know.

Does it still have the ROOTES ID sticker on the rocker cover.. that should at least match the engine number on the VIN.

Is the motor a 5 bolt? what are the casting numbers?
